L3 Technologies

L3 Technologies is a defense contractor and information technology service provider that makes modifications to airplanes. From January to July of 2018, I did a co-op at L3 Technologies in Greenville, TX. I was in the Structural Engineering group and was responsible for performing stress analysis on equipment designed by design engineers in the company. I had to maneuver through the NX CAD Program to find the moment of inertia and dimensions from the model and drawings.

I checked for crippling, initial buckling, column buckling, deep beam bending, and other compressive failures in the designs as well as tensile and shear failure mechanisms. I developed fringe plots in Patran and revised existing Nastran codes to substantiate complex 3D models. I generated Stress Reports and Stress Notes to convey the methodology used to substantiate critical stresses. I learned how companies operated and how to be professional in the workplace. Due to the proprietary nature of this work, the discussions of my seven-month co-op are general in nature. L3 Technologies has merged with Harris since my co-op to createL3Harris.

Jacobs is an engineering service firm that covers a wide range of industries throughout the world. I was a Technical Support Agent for one semester from January to May of 2019. During this semester, I assisted Jacobs users with all IT needs via telephone, email, and electronic ticketing system.

When a Jacobs employee from anywhere in the world had technical issues with his or her computer, work phone, or engineering application, I would provide technical and network problem resolution to end-users. I did this through a question diagnosis while guiding users through systematic solutions. Solutions may include, but are not limited to,

resolving account complications, troubleshooting software applications, and resolving errors with the VPN, hardware, and internet connection. This experience taught me to problem solve in time-sensitive situations with potentially upset customers. The Baton Rouge Jacobs office is now WorleyParsons after a partial company merge.
